The people shown in the associated & following lists have served Us well by joining the Military services of their countries of birth or adopted countries.
WW1: The Ultimate Sacrifice
Discovering that you have people connected to you through bloodlines or through marriage that have given their lives in the defence of Britain, its Commonwealth and allied nations is very humbling.
Knowing relatives of yours have lost their lives on foreign fields does make you stop and think about the futility of armed conflict and how easy it is for people with differing opinions to go to war. And how making absolute decisions about your own life and the lives of others dear to you is never really in your own grasp.
I hope I have done justice to these people - all of whom gave their lives in World War One, none of whom I ever knew, all of whom I owe a debt of gratitude to that can never be repaid.

I have started to identify those who gave their lives for us in WW2, although this is harder to generate as quite a lot of information is still embargoed by governments around the globe.
