Northall

Northall is a hamlet in the parish of Edlesborough, which is a village in the English county of Buckinghamshire (the Northall sign can be found on the approach roads to the hamlet).

Northall, has a large Baptist chapel, one pub "The Swan" and a village hall. Northall is located halfway between Edlesborough and Billington, Bedfordshire. [The presence of the Baptist chapel does not qualify the place as a Village].

The hamlet was formerly part of the Ashridge Estate (Hertfordshire) of the Earls and Dukes of Bridgwater.

Ashridge is a country estate and stately home. It is situated in the Chiltern Hills, about 2 miles north of Berkhamsted and 23 miles north-west of London. The estate comprises 5,000 acres of woodlands (known as Ashridge Forest), commons and chalk-downlands which supports a rich variety of wildlife.

Today, Ashridge (house) is home to Hult International Business School's Ashridge Executive Education program, as it has been since 1959. Ashridge House is now a wedding destination. Ashridge Estate is currently owned by the National Trust.

Like nearby Slapton, it has a few very high gabled cottages, with thickly latticed window panes, which are indicative of having been designed by the architect retained by the estate in the 19th-century. The hamlet contains many recently built houses, with some predominantly 19th-century houses remaining.

Built-in the 16th-century the property, once known as "The Village Green Inn" was a coaching inn, in later years it was called "The Northall Inn". Sadly it was closed and converted into a private house, like so many other village pubs/inns.
