Bass Brewery, Burton on Trent, 1985

I went to the Bass Brewery open day in 1985, when they were giving tours of the beer-making brewery, the stables (yes they were famous for their horse-drawn vehicles & heavy horses - all of which were not in attendance) and in their transport yard there were a few pieces of fairground equipment.

I took pictures of the fair equipment, fired off a few rounds of .22 ammunition on the rifle range - even managed to hit the target (with my eyesight at that time was a small miracle) - had a ride on the gallopers and even though it was a damp day, I had a thoroughly good time.

STOP PRESS! The museum is now permantly closed - Molson (part of Coors) have moved 500 staff into the building. There is sto be a new museum in Burton on Trent in a different location on its High St, which will feature the wider history of Burton and the Brewing Museum exhibits. Time will tell whether that will be aimed at just kids (as so many "modern" museums seem to be) or accessible by all.
