Autumn (October) Rose 2010

What a weird year we are having, weather wise!!

My small patio rose - Schoolgirl varietry - is supposed to bloom late July/Early August and in fact did this year produce 3 perfect flowers at that time. As it started to die back I pruned off the used stems and leaves and then due to commitments I left the plant to its own devices.

I do that every year, spending time middle of October cutting back & generally tidying up that plant all others in my garden.

This weekend I went into the garden intent on dealing with the Schoolgirl rose and what did I find? Yet ANOTHER perfect bloom. Don't get me wrong, I am not displeased, just amazed.

Tidying up that particular plant will have to wait until next weekend - the flower is still in bloom and looking lovely.
